A TASTE OF FRANCE ON LONGBOAT KEY "Consistently delicious" would be the adjective that best describes the very classy French restaurant on Longboat Key. Owned by most warm and welcoming Victoria and Jose Martinez, this restaurant does not disappoint. In the center of the dining room there is a beautiful display of beautiful orchids, lovingly arranged by Victoria. (She changes this display according to the season and is quite the artist) The owners' young son Jose Junior, now a server after doing an apprenticeship in the kitchen clearly loves what he does, and does it with style and poise as does the very polished and pleasant Michel who makes every evening at La Maison Blanche a special event. Just after being seated, we are treated to a basket of freshly baked breads, baguette or olive oil. Dinner the other night was delicious as usual. The steamed and tender vegetable appetizer was dressed with a very flavorful sauce. The crispy rib eye steak was tender and juicy on the inside and cooked to perfection accompanied by a delicious pepper sauce or béarnaise, and creamy mashed potatoes. Another amazing go to dish is the Mediterranean seabass, always a delight. Chef Jose finished our dinner off with a fluffy Grand Marnier soufflé, THE REAL THING, not a watered down version. The apple tart served with apple ice cream was also a real hit. The perfect ending to a delicious dinner!!!

Amazing. What a fantastic New Years treat. The food, service (Jerome was amazing!!!!!) and ambiance were perfect. Each course was a complement of the first. Thank you for making the end of 2014 so special.

Took Mom out for a nice dinner at a french restaurant for her birthday. She had the sea bass, I had the sweetbreads. Mom's meal was great. She also had a lovely chilled carrot soup. I had a Mesclun salad which was OK but over dressed. The sweetbreads were OK - I had never had them before so I thought as long as I'm at a top rated restaurant, now is the time to try them. I was not a fan. They were OK, but I can see why most places don't make them any more. However, I had a pretty bad case of stomach flu about 2.5 hours after dinner so I am not to keen on their sanitation. I make it a rule to never go back to a place if I get sick from their food. There is simply no excuse.

Probably one of my best experience in a restaurant I went to some top restaurant in NY, and Maison Blanche was as good . Every detail count from the design of the room to the quality of the dishes I will be back

We ordered the special perigord truffles with risotto and were assured that they were authentic, not the Chinese variety. It was tasteless along with the rest of the meal. That was last year so we decided not to return this year.

Maison Blanche has been reviewed here, but not enough great things have been said yet. The menu on first look was underwhelming - it looked a bit like a French restaurant from the 60's. But the food was prepared with a deft touch and a wisely muted flair, with some fun surprises. The wine list had a number of mid to high range French reds and whites - you know the stuff - and some low to mid range French to be avoided. We liked their selection of new world wines, but went with a 2003 bordeaux, Chateau Giscours - and it was outstanding. The amuse bouche was a riff on vichyssoise - and it was a perfectly executed - well seasoned, wonderfully amusing little start, along with the perfect mini-baguette and olive bread. The appetizers continued the trend - a perfectly prepared rouge, with crisp skin, caramelized edges, and a red pepper sauce that went perfectly with the slightly oily fish. The other appetizer was exquisitely prepared wild mushroom ravioli with a mushroom fois gras sauce. The only minor misstep was the slightly gummy ravioli dough, but the intense flavors made up for it. Each main course delighted in the same way - sweetbreads to die for, and the best suckling pig we ever had - melt in your mouth meat covered by a perfectly crisp skin, over amazing brussels & apples. For dessert, we stuck to classics - an apple tart and a napoleon. The apple tart was served with a quinnel of apple sorbet - intense, perfect. You'll pay a few bucks here, especially if you pick a nice wine, but it will be well worth it. This spot rivals some of the best classic French restaurants we've experienced.

Beautiful, serene room. Efficient, yet warm hospitality by accomplished staff. Food was exquisite. Do not miss it. By far the best food i've eaten out in recent memory, and I eat all over the country and the world.

One of the best meals I've ever had - incredible seafood. The service is impeccable. VERY pricey, but well worth it, IMO. Even the desserts were delicious - every single element of this dining experience was excellent!

Pure decadence. There really is no need for a wordy review here. The decore, the food, the service, all exceptional. Bring your highest expectations (and your wallet). You will leave completely satisfied with your experience on every level. If it's true you get what you pay for, then here is your proof. Just go!

Solid fine dining french restaurant. Underwelmed for prices and limited selections. Fish was overcooked. Soffle had too much grand marnier. Would not be a Michelin starred restaurant in my book but delivered a decent fine dining experience.

Such a memorable experience! Some of the finest food we've ever had, and the service was second to none. My husband has special dietary needs and our server made doubly sure every thing was right for him. Really, if you are in this area, Maison Blanche is a must and worth every penny! I can't say enough about the quality of this fine establishment.

Hands down my favorite restaurant. Chef Jose is an amazing chef. His food might be some of the best I've ever had in my life. His wife Victoria is perfect in the front of the house. If you ever want a special meal, this is the place to go. I could go on and on about how good the food is, but it won't do it justice. Just go there and experience French perfection and you'll understand.

Don't miss this eatery. Stark atmosphere, but wonderful service and DELICIOUS food. Servers are friendly and helpful with the menu. Your birthday dessert is served with a great introduction. Don't miss this place, you'll regret it. I loved it!!

Superb. Perhaps the best in Sarasota AND SURROUNDING AREAS. Service was a 12 out of 10!! Food was excellent, fish delish, the rest also great. This is THE OCCASSION restaurant. Pricey too, but that's what it takes.

MB serves good, solid french cuisine presented in a hip but calming dining environment. Probably the best cuisine in Sarasota. The appetizers truly shine at MB, with the mushroom ravioli with foie gras sauce a stellar standout. The pasta is thin and a perfect complement to the light stuffing. The lobster risotto has great flavor and massive chunks of lobster. Entrees are fine with a lot of ingenuity in concept but a little flat on execution. Sea bass was a bit overcooked and fairly large and the veggies on the suckling pig were overcooked and overseasoned. All told, we would return here and order three appetizers for each person and share.

Maison Blanche deserves 6 stars. The best chef in Sarasota is here. It's the best restaurant in SRQ, actually I've even heard it's the best restaurant in Florida. I believe it. It's expensive. You get what you pay for. French cuisine created to perfection. I go here for anniversaries. The tasting menu is a bargain. Very smart move by the Chef because it gives me the financial excuse to go more than once a year. If you wanted to experience this level of cutting edge French cuisine in NYC or LA it would cost you 2-3 times the amount of money. This is the best...period. If you want absolute perfection...this is the place.

Quel super séjour! My husband and I were looking for a special occasion restaurant in Sarasota and came across this gem on Longboat Key. The food and service were spectacular. My husband made special requests for both his appetizer and dessert and the chef was more than happy to accomodate. The foie gras risotta was exceptional. The acoustics are distracting, especially if seated near a large party. Otherwise, Masion Blanche has become our new special occasion restaurant and if my husband is si incliné, we plan to become regulars during our sojourns to Sarasota.

Decided to treat myself and my husband to Maison Blanche on my birthday, and was given one of the most memorable meals of my life! From the plated caviar, foie gras, sweetbreads to the made-to-order souffles for dessert, everything was perfect. Fine dining for the most discriminating tastes, rivaling my experiences dining in Paris, San Francisco, Shanghai and New York!

Over-rated! Food was just ok, service was a bit stuffy and their wine policy of NOT allowing wine and charging a corkage is ridiculous. Steak was good, fish was average, appetizers were small and overpriced and the souflee, that you have to order in pairs, was not even good. save your money, take your wine elsewhere and enjoy!
